A small gilt brass cruciform dial, possibly German, mid 17th century,

the front engraved with the Crucifixion and back with the Deposition of a serpent curled over a bar, the sides with stamped hours scales, hinged lid opening to small compass bowl (no needle or glass cover) with hour cardinal points, two small quadrant by the hinge, when closed 3.6 x 2.5 x 1cm (1 3/8 x 1 x 1/4in)
