A Benjamin Cole brass Altazimuth Theodolite, English, mid 18th century,

signed Cole Fecit, the telescope with back and fore sights, bubble level mounted on racked arc with pinion adjustment, above silvered compass rose with azimuth adjustment, circle of degrees with vernier scale, in original fitted mahogany case, together with staff-head mount and wooden tripod, the theodolite 27 x 33 x 19cm (10 1/2 13 x 7 1/2in), the case 34 x 40 x 19cm (13 1/2 x 15 3/4 x 7 1/2in) (3)
