Guy was multi-talented, a painter, draughtsman, etcher, lithographer, caricaturist, sculptor and portraitist from Lyon. He first trained as a painter on glass and porcelain, then studied under Jean-Claude Bonnefond from 1844 to 1846 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. His work can be seen in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Chambéry, Jersey Museum and Art Gallery, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, Birkenhead
