Footnotes

During a tour of her Paris apartment, filmed in the Nowness video, Marianne says, "I read a lot of books at the same time" (2:40).

The photographers Gered Mankowitz and Jean-Marie Périer both shot well known photos of Marianne, some of which were used on the covers of her 60's albums. She remained life long friends with both. Marianne had a long association with Allen Ginsberg and other notable authors of the Beat Generation. Ginsberg was a close friend and in the late 80's he invited Marianne to teach song writing at 'The Jack Kerouac School Of Disembodied Poetics' the writing program he co-founded with Anne Waldman at Naropa University in Colorado, which she did in 1988 and 89.
