Footnotes

Note
Dr. Seuss was hired as a graphic designer for Narragansett Brewing in the 1940s by Rudolph Haffenreffer Jr., chief executive of New England Brewing Company, who financed and managed the expansion and modernization of the Narragansett brewery. As a fan of cigar store Indians, Haffenreffer worked with Dr. Seuss to create the iconic Chief Gansett mascot.
