Note
The Alfalfa Club was founded in 1913, and hosts an annual black-tie dinner in Washington, DC, every January. Members have included U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush, as well as Dwight D. Eisenhower. Hagerty served as Eisenhower's press secretary for his entire term, from 1953-61, but he likely received the medal at the White House by 1958, when he was first listed as a member of the club.
