Note
Rhoda Darling (1776-1843) was born in Bellingham, Massachusetts, and married Levi Cook (1773-1857) of Cumberland, Rhode Island, on 5 October 1797. The inscription in the painting is the same as that on Rhoda's tombstone in Elder Ballou Meeting House Cemetery, Cumberland.
