Oval medallion drilled at the top and engraved with cloverleaf border surrounding the inscription, "Presented / to the / Augusta / Irish / Volunteers / by / Arthur F. Keene" and on reverse, "April 26 / Best / Shot / 1828", mounted in specimen box, medal 2 1/4 x 1 5/8 in.; approx. 6.5K gold, 10.43 grams.

Note
The presenter is identified as Irish-born Arthur F. Keene, a popular singer in the United States "who amused and edified ... with his merry Irish songs and patriotic airs." His death in Mobile, Alabama, was reported in newspapers from that city as well as Washington, DC, and Boston, Massachusetts.
