Queen Anne Walnut Armchair
New England, c. 1740
Carved crest rail with arched center flanked by ogees terminating in scrolled ears, joined to tops of shaped continuous stiles and conforming pierced splat, carved arm rests lapped and tenoned to the stiles and raised on saber-form vertical supports lapped over the stretchers of a trapezoidal slip seat frame, which is joined to outswept rear legs and cabriole forelegs with double-pegged tenons, 66cm wide, 53cm deep, 104cm high (26 1/2in wide, 21in deep, 41in high). Seat ht. 17 in.
