Set of Twenty-two Porcelain Table Items with the Arms of Derby or Dear

Jingdezhen, China, late 18th century

Each with underglaze cobalt and gilt Fitzhugh borders, bearing the DERBY coat of arms painted in polychrome enamels, "Per chevron embattled argent and azure three eagles displayed, two in chief of the second, one in base or," below the DEAR family crest of a hind's head erased, above the motto "Per industria periculo" inscribed on a pink banner; the set comprised of:

one mug, wd. 6, dp. 4 1/4, ht. 5 5/8 in.
one tea caddy, wd. 3 3/8, dp. 1 3/8, ht. 4 3/4 in.
four teabowls, diam. 3 1/4, ht. 2 in.
one slop bowl, diam. 5 5/8, ht. 2 7/8 in.
one plate, diam. 7 3/4, ht. 1 in.
six demitasse cups, wd. 3 1/2, dp. 2 1/4, ht. 2 1/2 in.
eight saucers, diam. 5, ht. 1 1/4 in.
