Painted Tin Pharmacy Trade Sign
late 19th century
Molded sheet metal assembled to form a pharmacist's mortar with round wooden base bolted to the sealed metal top impressed with the mark "W.T. & CO. 10.87" and intersected by a removable pestle handle, retaining traces of original gold leaf over green- and yellow-paint layers, the bottom bolted onto an 18-inch wrought iron rail that mounts on an included custom wooden wall bracket, overall wd. 11 1/4, dp. 30, ht. 18 1/2 in.
