Gilt Copper "Black Hawk" Trotting Horse Weathervane
attributed to Harris & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1875
Swell-bodied copper figure of a racehorse with hollow-molded legs and tail soldered to body, raised on vertical support intersecting raised front leg and shorter bracket on back hoof, connecting to 22-inch copper rod, includes bracket for wall hanging, finely restored verdigris and gold leaf surfaces, wd. 25, dp. 1 1/2, ht. 17 1/2 in.
