A LIKELY SAILOR MADE EMBOSSED COPPER BISMARK BATTLESHIP BADGE,
c. 1939-41.

Embossed sheet copper over wood plaque, the front with a shield centering a device consisting of a three-leaf clover and oak leaves, with traces of old varnish; the back covered in green paper board inscribed "Bismark" with illegible inscription below.

Ht. 9 3/8, wd. 9 3/8, dp. 7/8 in.

Footnotes

PROVENANCE
The plaque was given to the consignor in the 1970s while a sailor on H.M.S. Devonshire by a German navy veteran who served on the Bismark during World War II.
