A HENRY DERINGER CONTRACT U.S. MODEL 1817 RIFLE,
1828.

36 in., 54 caliber round rifled barrel, the breech marked "LS", "US" and a small round cartouche, the breech plug tang marked "1828"; lock plate marked "1828" on the pointed tail and "US/H.DERRINGER/PHILADA" below the brass pan; walnut stock with illegible cartouche behind the side plate; iron furniture including butt plate marked "US", patch box lid, flat side plate, trigger guard and bands, steel rammer with brass tip.
Overall lg. 51 1/2 in.

Condition: Metal toned to brown, stock has minor dings and dents, sling swivel studs are missing, lock functions properly.
