TWO MEXICAN WAR OFFICER'S SWORDS,
mid-19th century.

Nickel plated hilt featuring a Spanish crest positioned between to scrolling branches connecting to the knuckle bow, lion's head pommel and back strap, ray skin covered grip with copper wire wrapping, the knuckle bow marked "GEN H W BENHAM USA" in later style lettering; curved single-edge blade with pipe back, etched with foliate scrolls and crown over "J2", with nickel plate scabbard.
Overall lg. 37 1/4 in.

Nickel plated hilt featuring a Mexican crest positioned between to scrolling branches connecting to the knuckle bow, lion's head pommel and back strap, ray skin covered grip with copper wire wrapping; straight single-edge blade with narrow fuller, etched with foliate scrolls and spread wing American eagle, with nickel plate scabbard.
Overall lg. 37 1/4 in.
