The auction leads with Spanish colonial arms from The War Museum collection including an array of cup hilt rapiers and broadswords, numerous espadas ancha swords, cavalry sabres, silver hilted officer swords as well as numerous daggers, muskets, pistols and cannon. The War Museum was founded in 1983 by Rodney Hilton Brown to collect and preserve all types of arms and armour from the earliest era of New World exploration through the 19th century. In addition, the sale includes important and collectible militaria from the American Revolution through World War II including a 1746 Concord, Massachusetts powder horn, a rare Thomas Holbrook New England fowler, historical documents, several federal-era U.S. military rifles, swords, and a selection of World War I and II firearms, fighting knives and related items.
