A RARE U.S. MODEL 1869 TROWEL BAYONET AND SCABBARD,

The steel socket with locking ring, marked "E.R./PAT. JUNE 22,/1869" and with hinged tompion at the front; connecting by a curved shank to the spade-shaped blade with dished top surface; black leather scabbard with illegible markings on the frog and brass tip.
Blade lg. 8 3/4, overall lg. 12 1/2 in.
Condition: Bayonet with scattered gray mottling, tompion hinge move freely and felt is intact; scabbard surface has wear especially on the frog.
