A SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1873 (1884) TRAPDOOR RIFLE,
1892.

Serial number 552174, .45-70 caliber, round barrel with "V", "P" over eagle's head and "P" proof marks at the breech the top marked "A"; loading door marked "U.S./MODEL/1884"; flat lock plate marked with a spread wing eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD"; walnut stock with "SWP/1892" cartouche on the left side, marked "19" below the breech tang, and marked below the trigger guard "Y" and "P" with in a circle; steel furniture, the butt plate marked "US" and with a rod bayonet.

Condition: Metal toned to dark brown, stock has old surface and scattered dings and dents; missing rear sight; bore has light surface oxidation and sharp rifling, action functions properly.
