A SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR CARBINE,
1882.

Serial number 189385, .45-70 caliber, round barrel with adjustable rear sight and marked with "V," "P" and eagle's head proof marks, loading door marked "U.S./MODEL/1873"; flat lock plate with rounded tail marked with a spread wing eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD"; walnut stock, the left side deeply stamped "BRONCHO M.P CO." and "4/E" above the butt plate tang; steel furniture including a butt plate marked "US" on the tang, trigger guard and barrel band.
Barrel lg. 22, overall lg. 41 1/4 in.

Condition: Barrel toned to brown, lock plate retains bluing, stock has scattered dings and dents, bore is quite pitted, action functions properly.
