A U.S. BAHNFREI SWORD BAYONET,
c. 1860.

Brass handle, the ribbed grip with molded inscriptions "Bahnfrei", the slotted back marked "18" and steel spring clip marked "23"; straight double-edge blade.
Blade lg. 24 1/8, overall lg. 29 1/4 in.

Condition: Brass toned to yellow; blade has scattered spots and areas of light gray toning.
