A U.S. MODEL 1861 DAHLGREN BAYONET FOR THE PLYMOUTH/WHITNEYVILLE RIFLE,
Ames Manufacturing Company, Chicopee, Massachusetts, 1861.

The brass handle with steel retaining spring and wood grip marked "1210"; straight single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, the ricasso marked on one side "1861" and on the other "AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE.
MASS."; black leather scabbard with brass mounts.
Blade lg. 11 7/8, overall lg. 16 5/8 in.

Condition: Brass toned to yellow and with minor dings and dents, wood shows minor wear and scratches; blade is mostly bright with some light file marks on the edge; scabbard seam is partially separated, tip is missing one retaining pin.
