A U.S. MODEL 1847 SAPPERS & MINERS MUSKETOON BAYONET AND SCABBARD,
Ames Manufacturing Company, Chicopee, Massachusetts, 1855.

The cast scale handle marked at the pommel "A.D.K./R.H.K.W.", cross guard with locking ring; straight double-edge blade marked at the ricasso on one side "U.S./A.D.K./1855" and on the other side "AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE/MASS"; black leather scabbard with brass mounts.
Blade lg. 22 1/4, overall lg. 27 in.

Condition: Brass toned to yellow; locking ring and blade are bright with scattered light gray toning; scabbard leather has cracked surface and seam is separated, throat missing top plate, tip missing end plate.
