A U.S. MODEL 1847 SAPPERS & MINERS MUSKETOON BAYONET,
N.P. Ames, Cabotville, Massachusetts, 1847.

The cast scale handle marked at the pommel "D1" on one pommel "RC", cross guard with locking ring; straight double-edge blade marked at the ricasso on one side "U.S./N.W.P" and on the other side "N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1847."
Blade lg. 22 1/4, overall lg. 27 in.

Condition: Brass toned to yellow; locking ring is bright; blade is toned to mottled gray and has scattered light nicks on the edge.
