A TACK-DECORATED CUT-DOWN SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1863 RIFLE MUSKET.

33 in., .58 caliber rifled barrel, the fowler modified from a Springfield U.S. Model 1863 Rifle Musket, round barrel, lock marked "1863" and with a spread wing eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD"; cut-down walnut stock with tack decoration, iron furniture.
Overall lg. 49 in.

Condition: Barrel toned to mottled brown and with moderate pitting at the breech, lock tone to dark gray with light pitting; stock has scattered dings, dents and scratches, action functions properly.
