A HARPERS FERRY U.S. MODEL 1822 MUSKET & BAYONET,
c. 1827.

42 in., .70 caliber round barrel, the left side of the breech with "V", eagle's head "P" proof marks, the top of the barrel marked "W/a and "41" and the breech plug tang marked "1825"; lock plate with pointed tail marked "HARPERS/FERRY/1827" and below the brass pan marked with a spread wing eagle and "US"; walnut stock marked behind the side plate "EB/3" for Springfield Armory inspector Elizur Bates; iron furniture of proper form for the pattern, steel rammer with flaring head and threaded end; bayonet with "T" slot and "U.S." on the blade.
Overall lg. 57 1/2 in.

Condition: Very good overall condition; barrel and iron parts are mostly bright, lock has light gray mottling; markings are strong; stock has scattered dings, dents and some gouges; action functions properly; bayonet is cleaned bright.
