A FLINTLOCK AMERICAN MILITIA MUSKET,
early 19th century.
early 19th century.
38 1/4 in., .76 caliber round barrel, the breech with partial possibly company marking; slightly convex ordnance lock with pointed tail engraved "TOWER" and with a crown over "GR" and crowned broad arrow mark below the pan; maple stock; brass furniture including a butt plate with a narrow pointed tang, trigger guard with acorn finial, four sheet brass rammer pipes, brass nose cap and steel rammer with button head and threaded end.
Overall lg. 53 3/8 in.
Condition: The musket is coated in a thin layer of varnish, barrel has pitting at the breech; lock is an old replacement, stock has a repair above the lock mortice, brass toned to yellow, action functions properly.
