AN AMERICAN EAGLE POMMEL INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABER AND SCABBARD,

Brass hilt with narrow counter-guard, five-ball knuckle bow and eagle's head pommel, reeded bone grip; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, decorated with etched foliate scroll and panoply of arms decoration; black leather scabbard with brass mounts.
Blade lg. 28 5/8, overall lg. 34 in.
Condition: Hilt lack an outboard loop on the counter-guard, hilt is loose on the blade tang; blade is toned to mottled gray and has traces of gilding in the etched decoration; scabbard is in good overall condition.
