A VICTORIAN BRITISH FLINTLOCK MILITARY MUSKET,
c. 1840.

39 1/2 in., .77 caliber barrel with ring decoration the breech Georgian Tower ordnance proof marks at the breech and a broad arrow inside a circle on the top of the barrel; lock with double line border engraving, rounded tail marked "TOWER" and crown over "VR" with crowned broad arrow below the pan, the inside of the plate marked with a broad arrow inside a circle, crown over "36" and "MM"; walnut stock with inspector's marks behind the trigger guard, broad arrow over "BO" on the right side of the butt, "JB" marked behind the side plate, rammer channel with inspector's marks, "WH," "LEONARD" and "HM"; brass furniture including trigger guard with blunt finial, butt plate with long blunt tang, convex "S" side plate, nose cap, two rammer and one entry pipe; steel rammer with button head and threaded end, sling swivels.
Overall lg. 55 1/4 in.

Condition: Barrel and lock toned to mottled gray/brown with scattered light pitting; stock has scattered ding and dents; brass toned to deep yellow; lock functions properly.
