A VENETIAN ETCHED GLAIVE,
late 16th/early 17th century.

The broad, long knife-shaped bladed with protruding spikes and crescent, the base of the blade etched scrolling and figural decoration with traces of gilding and later gold paint; faceted socket with long straps mounted on a faceted, velvet covered and tack decorated pole.
Head ht. 33 1/4, overall ht. 95 3/8 in.

Condition: Head toned to mottled gray, have cloth worn, head secured to haft by only a single small eye ring.
