Footnotes

Provenance:
Schefler Collection, New York, acquired between 1969-2000.

This amber beaker with pincered vertical ribs is a more unusual form probably made in north Italy in the later 1st Century, with an almost identical example from a local collection now preserved in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Adria (S. Bonomi, Vetri antichi del Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Adria Corpus delle collezioni archeologiche del vetro nel Veneto, Vol. 2 (Comitato Nazionale Italiano dell' AIHV), 1996 p. 127, no. 289, pl. VI).
