Who this mould-blown bust was meant to protray will always be a mystery - it is known that there were examples depicting Livia, wife of Augustus in the guise of the goddess Hera (Stern 1995, pp. 216-17, no. 138), while taller bottles were modelled after Eutychides' famous monumental scultpture of the Tyche of Antioch (Matheson 1980, pp. 102-4, nos. 276-7).
