Footnotes

Provenance:
Schefler Collection, New York, acquired between 1969-2000.

While most ancient Greek core-formed vessels have a dark blue background with turquoise and yellow trailing or opaque white with purple trailing, this amphoriskos has a mottled turquoise blue body and more minimalist opaque yellow trailing, which can also be found, for example, with an alabastron now in the J. Paul Getty Museum, see Anastassios Antonaras, Ancient Glass in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Getty Publications, Los Angeles, 2025, p. 47, no. 12. For a similar turquoise amphoriskos but with yellow handles and foot, cf. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, obj.no. 74.51.326.
