Nefertum's animal manifestation was the lion. He was also linked with the creation legend of the scented blue lotus on the waters of chaos: when its petals opened the sun god was revealed. For a discussion of Nefertum, cf. C. Andrews, Amulets of Ancient Egypt, British Museum, London, 1994, pp.18-19.
