Footnotes

David Drummond Bone was the son of Captain Sir David W. Bone and nephew of the artist Muirhead Bone. During his naval career Bone was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on the 3rd June 1936 and Lieutenant-Commander on 3rd June 1944. Bone was in command of the British destroyer HMS Icarus when it sunk a German U-boat near the Scilly Isles on the 21st January 1945.
