"My paintings explore the beauty of harmony within discord. Where others might hesitate to blend an abundance of colors, I unite them in a breathtaking, balanced composition that simply works. Growing up as a gay person in a conservative Indian city, I concealed my love for vibrant colors, fearing that my passion would expose me. It wasn't until I moved to Canada that I found the freedom to embrace my authentic self. Now, the explosion of colors in my art symbolizes my journey—an outward expression of the love and identity I once kept hidden." -Tanmay Kaushik Parashar

Artist Statement: I am a self-taught Abstract Expressionist. Based in London, ON, I try to evoke a sense of beauty & inspiration through the interactions between colors as they find their place on the surface I'm working with. I endeavor to create pieces that produce in others the same passion for colors that I have always felt.

My style is the evocation of emotion through the interweaving of colors on canvas and aims to be to the eyes what enthralling music is to our ears. For me, my style is not the brush stroke or application technique of medium on canvas. Style is the way that I use color to express myself. The expression of my sense of self is imbued in my aesthetic.

A distinct aspect of my practice is my use of a credit card. All lines on all my pieces are made using the edge of a credit card, one colored dab at a time. These pieces can have up to 60,000 individual dabs and can take a few weeks to complete.
