Footnotes

Provenance

"As a member of a minority group myself, I deeply understand the challenges faced by people like me and want to provide support in any way I can. By donating my artwork to this auction, I hope to contribute to the community by ensuring that the funds raised from its sale will benefit those in need. This cause is close to my heart, and I am honored to help.

This piece reflects the contrast between heaviness and lightness—a massive stone suspended in air, defying gravity. It symbolizes the resilience and strength required to carry heavy burdens while striving for freedom and balance. Like the stone, the individuals supported by The Laurel Foundation face profound challenges, yet they rise above them, finding moments of hope, courage, and possibility."
-Valery Povski

Artist Statement: In my work, I draw inspiration from shadows and the play of light and darkness to create mystical paintings that feel like they come from another world. My art is an attempt to look beyond the visible and capture the hidden magic of the world.
