Footnotes

Spencer Tracy started in the 1958 film adaptation of The Old Man and the Sea. The film has been considered the "most literal word-for-word rendition of a written story ever filmed" though it should be noted it was a strained production process. Though a box office failure, the film did secure Tracy an academy nomination.
