Kennedy, John F. 1917-1963. Why England Slept. New York: Wilfred Funk, Inc., 1940. 8vo. Original brick red cloth stamped in white and blue, black painted top edge, dust jacket, stated "Fourth Printing, August 1940" on copyright page, loose Spencer Tracy bookplate. Wear to jacket edges, toning, spine sunning.

FIRST EDITION, FORTH PRINTING PRESENTATION COPY signed and inscribed by author: "To Mr. Tracy / with best regards/ Jack Kennedy/ [???]".

Footnotes

Spencer Tracy and future President John F. Kennedy Jr., 23 at the time, met in 1940, when Jennedy was signing copies of his first book. This moment was captured in photographic form and has often been used to show a moment at the beginning if Kennedy's political career.
