Miriam Seegar (1907–2011) was a bright presence in late silent and early sound films, starring in titles like The Love Doctor (1929) and The Dawn Trail (1930) before leaving Hollywood behind. In 1932, she married Tim Whelan (1893–1957), the dynamic screenwriter, producer and director of the classic comedies of Harry Langdon and Harold Lloyd and The Thief of Bagdad (1940), films exemplary of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Together they balanced the glamour of the film industry with family life, raising two sons. While Whelan continued crafting major films on both sides of the Atlantic, Seegar reinvented herself as a successful interior designer, proving her talents reached far beyond the silver screen. Bonhams is thrilled to offer such highlight pieces of her private collection.
