A YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE 'ARCHAISTIC LION-MASK RING-HANDLE' SNUFF BOTTLE

1740-1830
Of small rounded rectangular shape, brilliantly carved in relief to each side with an archaistic bronze-inspired lion-mask ring-handle, the eyelids and brows formed from c-scrolls and with finely detailed manes that extend to the shoulders at the narrow sides, below a short cylindrical neck with concave rim and small mouth, supported on a short foot with flat oval foot ring and flat base, one side with a russet inclusion that extends to the shoulder on the narrow side.
