Prince Ding Zaichuan was a Manchu prince during the Qing dynasty. He was the fifth person to hold the title of Prince Ding, and the great-great-grandson of the Qianlong Emperor. The fifth Prince Ding Zaichuan rose to high official rank of his own accord during the Daoguang and Xianfeng reigns. He was a noted poet, collector and patron of the arts. See Bonhams, New York, 19 March 2024, lot 422, for a dated rock crystal bottle inscribed Xianfeng xinhai chun Xingyouheng Tang zhi (Made for the Hall of Constancy, spring of the xinhai year (1851) of the Xianfeng period year. The calligraphy of the mark on that bottle compares closely to that found on ours.
