A fine imperial pale violet-blue opaque white glass 'floral' snuff bottle

Qianlong wheel-cut four-character mark and of the period, 1736-1795
Of slender flattened oviform shape, delicately carved through a thin pale violet-blue overlay with aster sprays issuing from rockwork below a descending butterfly on one side, and with peony rising from rockwork on the other, the blue overlay forming a thin band at the neck rim and a slightly spreading foot below, the flat oval base with a wheel-cut mark.
1 5/8in (4.2cm) high, stopper

Another violet-blue overlay bottle of small ovoid form with a Qianlong four-character wheel-cut mark, from the same Imperial group and decorated with asters, lingzhi and bamboo was sold at Bonhams New York, The Margaret Polak Collection of Fine Chinese Snuff Bottles, 24 March 2010, lot 123.
