A TWO-COLOR JASPER 'HAWKS AND BAMBOO' SNUFF BOTTLE

1750-1860
of bulbous rounded square shape, carved through an upper layer of dark green color with two hawks one standing on a thin branch of leafy bamboo and looking at another hawk with head turned back to return the stare, standing on a thicker 'noded' bamboo culm carved from the orange-brown layers with some rust-red inclusions, all below a waisted cylindrical neck with concave rim and small mouth, supported on a short foot with a wide flat oval foot ring and shallow flat base.
