A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE 'SANDUO AND BAT' SNUFF BOTTLE

1740-1820
Of rounded rectangular shape, and superbly carved cleverly integrating large original flaw lines in the matrix of the stone, to outline the 'Sanduo', peach, pomegranate and finger citron, the first two fruit carved to one side below a swooping bat and with their branch stems and leaves conjoined and forming the foot ring and base, the finger citron rising alongside these to one narrow edge and continuing to the reverse side, below a cylindrical neck with flat rim and small mouth and a well-hollowed interior.
