A WHITE AND GRAY JADE 'HORSE AND GROOM RIVERSCAPE' SNUFF BOTTLE

Suzhou, 1750-1850
Of large, slightly bulbous, spade shape, carved relief with a continuous scene of a horse and groom fording a stream or river near a waterfall and bridge amidst serrated rockwork below clouds at the shoulder and continuing to the reverse side with a hut set in a narrow rocky river ravine with willow to one side and further serrated rockwork, below a cylindrical neck with concave rim and small mouth, supported on a slightly concave oval base.
