A WHITE JADE 'CONTESTING ARCHAISTIC DRAGONS' SNUFF BOTTLE

1750-1795
Of flattened rounded rectangular shape, each side carved in a delicate relief with archaistic dragons with bifurcated key-pattern-form bodies with c-scroll decoration, the two heads on each side confronted at the mid body and contesting a simply indicated magic pearl, their bodies forming the archaic-bronze-like decoration that surrounds them, the narrow sides plain, all below a cylindrical neck with flat rim and small mouth, supported on a short foot with flat oval foot rim and flat base.
2 1/2in (6.3cm) high, stopper
