A CHALCEDONY SHADOW AGATE 'MENG HAORAN' SNUFF BOTTLE

1750-1860
Of rounded rectangular shape, edited to one side using the dark brown inclusions in the honey-gray stone to depict Meng Haoran riding his mule in a rocky landscape holding a large plum blossom over his left shoulder, the reverse plain, below a cylindrical neck with concave rim and regular mouth, supported on a short spreading foot with a flat oval foot ring and shallow flat base.
2 1/2in (6.3cm) high, stopper
