Republic period, Zuishi mark, dated by inscription to 1916
Depicting a scholar and his servant on a small boat surrounded by gnarled trees and mountain cliffs, the stone with patches of red and brown, carved inscription on the back.

民國 《醉石》《丙辰》款 壽山石山形詩文印

The seal reads: 不知天上宫阙,今夕是何年, a poem verse by Su Shi (1037-1101).

The carved inscription may be read as: 醉石刻此印漸進务生 丙辰秋客京師

Tang Zuishi (唐醉石, 1885-1969), originally from Changsha, Hunan province, is known for his seal carvings and calligraphy while working in Hangzhou. He also participated the establishment of the Xiling Seal Art Society in the early 1900s.
