A CREAM-GLAZED CUPSTAND

Five Dynasties
The elegantly shaped cylinder supported on a rounded disc and straight foot, covered overall a thin layer of ash-tinted glaze, the base unglazed revealing the fine white clay body.
3 9/16in (9cm) high (Japanese wood box).

A Qingbai-glazed cupstand of this type in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum is illustrated by Ayers, Far Eastern Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1980, no. 92, described as Northern Song dynasty.
