A true testament to Patek Philippe's mastery of complicated watchmaking, this distinguished 18K yellow gold pocket watch brings together three of the manufacture's most celebrated complications: the minute repeater, the perpetual calendar with day, date and month, and an exquisite moon phase indication. Numbered 97421, it exemplifies the technical innovation and timeless elegance that defined Geneva's golden age of horology.
This remarkable watch is offered with an extraordinary ensemble of original accessories: its fitted presentation box, the certificate of origin and warranty, the bulletin de marche, and a historic letter from Patek Philippe dated 1906, confirming the watch's return from service. The letter reads:
"Sir,
We have the honor of informing you that today we have returned to you the gold watch No. 97421, duly repaired.
This piece being in perfect condition, we are pleased to note its very satisfactory performance. The watch has been tested for several days by our workshop, which allowed us to confirm its excellent running and precision.
In order to spare you any inconvenience, we have taken the liberty of enclosing a reimbursement for your expenses, which amounted to 40 francs."
The survival of such documentation alongside the watch provides not only a guarantee of authenticity but also a vivid and personal glimpse into the life of the timepiece and the attentive service culture of Patek Philippe in the early 20th century.
Further underscoring its significance, the watch was personally inspected by Osvaldo Patrizzi in October 1990. Uniquely, the original handwritten card by Patrizzi confirming this valuation is preserved and offered with the watch, adding yet another layer of provenance and scholarly recognition to this important timepiece.
Both mechanically sophisticated and historically resonant, this pocket watch is far more than a complication: it is a unique treasure of Geneva's haute horlogerie, uniting artistry, technical brilliance and provenance of the highest order.
